What TB-500 is
Thymosin beta-4 has 43 amino acids. TB-500 borrows only seven of them, the run spelled LKKTETQ, the part that studies of cell movement focus on. A 2012 paper adds one more detail: the man-made version carries a small acetyl cap on one end.
So think of TB-500 as a fragment, not the full protein. Articles and sales pages blur the two all the time, and a study of the big protein cannot simply be handed to the small piece.
TB-500 research, and where it really comes from
Direct studies of TB-500 are scarce. One of the clearest has nothing to do with health at all: in 2012, chemists built a way to spot it in the blood and urine of racehorses, after it turned up in racing. Then in 2025, an animal study of eye burns tested a material built on the TB-500 sequence and tracked the eye surface over time.
The rest belongs to the whole protein. A 2018 review gathered animal work on thymosin beta-4 and blood vessel growth in the heart. In people, a small 2015 trial with 9 patients who had severe dry eye gave the full protein or a placebo and asked them to rate their eye discomfort. Keep in mind that every one of those studies used thymosin beta-4, not the fragment in this vial.

One more thing to know
In a lab check of TB-500 sold online, which came out online in December 2022 and in print in April 2023, the contents did not always match the label. That is a known weak spot in this market, and one more reason to read every TB-500 claim slowly.
