What Testagen is
KEDG names its four amino acids: lysine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and glycine. It belongs to the family of very short peptides that Russian research groups study.
One chicken study traces KEDG back to extracts from the front of the pituitary gland, the small gland under the brain that runs many hormones. The name suggests the testes, but no source found for these notes describes it that way, and the papers point to the pituitary instead.
The few Testagen studies
A PubMed search turned up only 10 records covering Testagen or its KEDG sequence, and 2 of them are about something else. The other 8 belong to two research groups in Russia: bird work from a medical academy in Chita, and lab work involving the St. Petersburg group.
In a 2011 chicken study, researchers removed the pituitary gland, which changes the thyroid, and then studied the thyroid in birds given the peptide. In a 2013 test tube study, it and other short peptides clung to histones, the proteins that DNA coils around. Neither study tells you what the peptide does in mammals or in people.
